Post Midi Connection
Hey guys!

Running with a T2 here. We are doing a segment where the tracks in Ableton are cuing up a video in pro presenter while the band is playing (spoken word). I would like for all around synchronization but can't seem to get the Jands console to accept any midi signal from Ableton? Any thoughts or tips?

Thanks guys!

Are you doing learn midi or just putting in the MIDI note you put in Ableton? I found that they don't match.. If i put a C2 in Ableton, it showed up in Vista as some other note. I just ended up turning on Learn MIDI and firing the cue from Ableton and capturing that note.

For what you are doing though, you could also possibly use SMPTE timecode. Depending on your needs though.

I tried learn midi. And still nothing. When firing from a micro korg it worked fine. It could be an issue with abelton or the midi man. I was also thinking of using SMPTE.... Any tips on that?

When I was playing with MIDI, vista wouldn't accept the note unless it was sent with the highest velocity. Could be one of your issues.

As far as SMPTE goes, this thread: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=3664 has some good info in it.

have you set the midi input device up in file -> user preferences?

if you haven't done that, nothing will work properly

I have an L5 and had the same issue when I use the external Midi In port also nothing shows up but it still works just make sure your Midi Channels are right as everyone seems to count them in different ways also after you change this click apply.
