Post OSX Sierra Random Blackouts
We recently upgraded our lighting computer to a 2017 iMac and we have been experiencing random blackouts. We installed the proper UD512 driver for the license key and have not had any issues with the license not being recognized. Than black outs seem to happen when the computer is sitting idle for more than 5 seconds or Vista is behind another program like Numbers. We are currently using 2 universes one of which being Art-Net and both are effected by the blackout. My question is it a Vista setting or is it an OSX issue and what would a possible solution be? Any information is greatly appreciated! :D

Hi rpclighting,

A couple of things. Firstly - you should have both a UD512 and either a first or second generation HASP licence dongle installed to prevent the blackouts. See the attached illustration.

If they are both attached to the host computer, please make sure that the host computer power management settings have been set to never go to sleep. This reduces power to the USB ports which prevents communication with the devices. You will also get this problem when you are using other programs and Vista is in the back ground. This is an OSX setting so we do not recommend using other programs on the same machine in a live environment.
